Can this specs play sims 2?..Lol a loyal fan of sims 2.. XD

@lbaquerizo This may be true, but Thikpads are more expensive. And AFAIK there no t420/t420s with dedicated graphics.

@moneymakingkid A quick search reveals that the min for Sims 2 is:
Processor: 800 MHz processor or equivalent
RAM: 256mb
Video Memory: 32mb
Hard Drive Space: 3.5gb
Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
DirectX Version: v9.0
So I don’t think you’d have a problem running it on this Vostro, even with the I3 config and 2Gb RAM.

Thanks for explaing regarding the 3450 and the hard drive sizes. That’s very disappointing by DELL.
Also they should start including two speakers on small laptops it shouldn’t be that hard.

realsoccerdude123 on September 24, 2011 at 11:16 am
Does it have Intel HD graphics 3000 or does it have Intel HD 2000? Also did you get MS OFFice 2010 started edition free ?

@realsoccerdude123 hi there, it has the 3000 and it did come preinstalled with Office 2010 starter, but I believe it was a trial only. I don’t remember exactly, it was the first thing I uninstalled.

@HH99HH99HH Hi there, I use the internal microphone sometimes for VoIP. If anything, it would work better than the old one you had. This Vostro has 2 microphones (to the left and right of the camera) so it can do effective beamforming and noise cancellation. Together with the “Andrea Microphone Technology” that comes installed you can create profiles and adjust it to your liking. It works quite well if not very well for what it is.

@mevnet Thanks for the reply…but pre installed? as far as I know you don’t even have Windows 7 Installed onto your laptop if its packed.you should’ve got CDs for windows 7 and Office10.
Also I read at places that the inbuilt speaker sound is very soft and low is this true?
mevnet on September 26, 2011 at 11:53 am
@realsoccerdude123 Hi again, it was preinstalled on mine. I might have it together with all recovery and driver CDs that came with it but like I said I did not use it. The built in speaker is pretty good for what it is. It is just one and it’s pretty loud, good enough for the occasional use. As with all built in speaker expect it to respond better to the midrange frequencies. It is firing downward, and it is located on the left side of the keyboard underneath.

Hey bought the laptop :) how do i adjust the keyboard backlight ?
mevnet on October 1, 2011 at 12:13 pm
@realsoccerdude123 If you have it it is Fn+F6. You have a couple of brightness steps to choose from. Once enabled it comes on every time you touch the keyboard and turns off by itself after a while. I don’t know how you set that timer, if you can. Enjoy your Vostro!

Hi :) thank you for the video.
I’m thinking about buying a laptop but i’m not sure whether to buy this one , or the vostro 3450 one. got some question about this one you have :) :
1. I found most components are quite the same except that the screen size in 3350 is 13 ” and the 3450 is 14- and still, the price of 3350 is more expensive than the latter..do you know why is that maybe? is3350 newer ?
2. you probably got the chance to use it for a while – how r u doing with the keyboard now?
mevnet on October 7, 2011 at 7:48 pm
@MajinMan 1. Screen of 3450 is the same resolution which is not too high. I would prefer 3350
2. I love the keyboard, I have the backlit one.
The one main deterrent for me when I looked to buy the laptop was the fact that 3450 has the HDD field replaceable, not customer replaceable. Meaning that it is very hard to replace/ upgrade it to an SSd, etc. and you can void warranty, Aside from that they are pretty much the same thing. 3350 is about the same price, only a few $s more. Good luck!

hell258456 on November 3, 2011 at 1:13 am
I have a question, I don’t know why but the scroll up at the right side of the touchpad (Vostro 3350) is not working, could you please help me? The touchpad had already turn on
mevnet on November 3, 2011 at 11:36 pm
@hell258456 well…I would suggest getting in Control Panel/ Mouse and the first menu is for Dell Touchpad. Click on it to configure the (many) options. On mine by default scrolling is done with two fingers.

@mevnet Thank you for your review i found it very usefull, to bad dell does not have the backlit keyboard as a configurable option for the vostro.
I wonder if only the base model lacks the backlit keyboard or that its different per country.
mevnet on November 6, 2011 at 12:42 pm
@m4r71jn In Canada the I3 version does not have the option of backlit keypad (but you can buy it separately from Dell Parts and install yourself). As far as I know all other versions come with it by default. Enjoy!

How long is the battery life? PLZ answer
mevnet on November 21, 2011 at 12:42 pm
@SkullCandyBaby16 hi there, i get about 4 maximum 5 hours of browsing out of it with the standard battery pack (4 cell). I have the backlit keypad and the screen brightness is about 25%.
