MSI GT780R 17″ Gaming Laptop First Look & Review- Part 1
Build Yours at www.gentechpc.com (latest model GT780DX with nVidia GTX570M) The MSI GT780R just came in! We were excited to open the box and try out the unit. This is one of the few laptops we have seen that has a matte screen in a long time and we were happy to see the Dynaudio and dual exhaust features be carried over from the MSI GT683R as they were both features we really liked on the 15″ version of this laptop. The Geforce GTX560M is a very capable gpu and the Intel Core i7 2630QM is a extremely strong mobile processor. Top it off with 1TB of HDD and 16GB of RAM and you really have a fully loaded package here for a good price. The illuminated keyboard gives you an extra layer of customization and personalization and a good alternative to more expensive Alienware laptops if you really wanted that color led lit keyboard. Infact the Steelseries keyboard is better than that you can find on Alienware so this is a step forward. Well just check out the video for all the other information you may want, remember you can find more videos posted to the product page @ GentechPC.com and if you have more questions post here on our video or go visit our forums.

I’ve heard that the keyboard is sometimes unresponsive or has a slight delay. Did that happen for you?

Hi there, at around 10:47 you disassembled the keyboard, but how do you remove it exactly? Do you need to remove the part with the quick access buttons? If yes how did you do that? Thanks for answering ;)
TheDiegoamatheus on January 8, 2012 at 2:25 am
@smermod in the top of the keyboard there’s some little holes, you have to lift them up, all of them and rise the keyboard carefully and unlatch the ribbons

Is Intel Core i5 2,3 GHz (2,9 GHz Turbo Boost) good enough for gaming? Its only dual core, someone answer plz :)
Alooy10q8 on January 11, 2012 at 8:09 pm

wweworldwrestling on January 13, 2012 at 12:58 am
@TheEsaful He’s trolling you or he don’t know what he’s talk about. That processor can play any game as of today on high. Anyway I’m getting MSI GT780DXR-405US. Intel Core i7-2670QM, 2.2-3.1GHz. MRAM: 12GB DDR3, VRAM: nVidia GeForce GTX 570M 1.5GB GDDR5, DX11, HDD: 1TB 7200rpm (500GB X2) 2.5″ 9.5mm SATA II, 16MB. Plays any game on ultra with ease :)

hey man, i’ve got the gt780dxr and i want to know how’s the vga fan on yours? is it silent when idle or is it running loud ? also other gamers tell me to increase my mic they can’t hear me. have you had problem with the mic not being sensitive enough?
zeidleRRR on January 22, 2012 at 8:43 pm
@ivanninjo5 GTX570M
playerlazar73 on January 25, 2012 at 7:42 am
@1337soundeZ battery life is i think about 2 hours on power saving ofcourse
,and while gaming it gets hot ofcourse , but not to hot, the cooling is pretty good. I tress tested it with playing battlefield3 for 9 hour’s straight
Moonface00z on January 26, 2012 at 1:21 am
Nope the latest version gives you 3 hours of gaming or movie while 4 hours on movie and 5 hours on normal webbing
